We didn’t see that one coming, but if Arnold Schwarzenegger can transition from his acting career to holding the position of governor of the state of California, then maybe Syrian actor Samer Al Masri can move into politics too.

The determined star is on his way to Damascus to submit documents necessary to run against Bashar Al Assad for President, which the press release announcing his big plan assured was the right of every Syrian citizen.

Samer defended the rights of minorities in Syria and their right to live a respectable life, stressing the necessity that all ethnic groups in Syria live in harmony with one another, including his wife’s group Druz.

According to the Middle East news portal Elaph, Samer said that he meets all the criteria to run for president and most important of all is gaining the trust of 35 members of Parliament.

The only side Samer is taking in the crisis facing his country is that of humanitarian aid for those in need. He claims to not be involved in the military bloodshed that took the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent people.
