Egyptian state TV reported a bomb explosion outside the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in Cairo Sunday, killing two police officers.

In a separate, non-lethal incident in Tanata, a bomb exploded near a police club and another device was diffused nearby, according to a police officer in the area. The second terror attack in the capital since June, the Cairo incident is a prescient reminder of the deep unrest still plaguing the country.

In June, a bomb outside a presidential palace killed two police officers, raising public concern of terror threats. July saw another attack, when militants killed 22 border troops.

Although most attacks are carried out Sinai Penninsula by militant groups, threats on police and security forces have been on the rise all year since widespread protests ended in the forceful removal of Mohamed Morsi and President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi took office.
