After over four years behind bars, Mubarak-era interior minister Habib El-Adly was released, state news agency MENA reported.
El-Adly was recently acquitted on charges he had used his political influence to acquire illicit gains amounting to LE181 million ($23.7 million).
Last year, a court acquitted El-Adly, six of his aides and former president Hosni Mubarak of complicity in the killing of protesters during the January 2011 uprising.
El-Adly served as Mubarak's minister of interior from 1997 till 2011.
