Classroom bomb wounds teacher, students in Afghanistan

Five people were wounded in an explosion at a school in Khost City, the capital of southeastern Khost province, on Monday, an official said.

Education Director Eng. Bakht Noor told Pajhwok Afghan News the explosion took place at around 8:30 am at the Shahid Matiullah High School. The bomb had been planted in a classroom.

A teacher and four students wounded in the blast were evacuated to hospital, he said. But there was no immediate information about their condition.

Mohammad Anwar, giving an eyewitness account, said the injured were shifted to hospital in an ambulance. The exact number of the wounded was yet to be ascertained, he added.

Police Chief Faizullah Ghirat said no suspect had been arrested in connection to the blast while police have launched investigation. There was no claim of responsibility for the explosion.
