At least four people were killed on Monday when a suicide bomber targeted a government-backed Sunni militia group north of Baghdad, Reuters reported.
Members of the group were in the process of collecting their salaries when the bomb went off. A further 21 people were left injured by the attack.
Iraq has faced a deteriorating security situation and mounting tensions over the past few months. The Shia-led government has made enemies of many from the Sunni minority with new terror laws that appear to target the community.
Northern Iraq has also fallen victim to bomb attacks as the Kurdish regional government and Baghdad continue to dispute who controls oil rights over the region.
On Sunday, police headquarters in the Northern capital of Kirkuk were targeted by bombers, leaving at least 30 people dead.
