swarovski abaya design awards receive local attention in abu dhabi

Final Designs will be showcased at
The Bride Show Abu Dhabi

Amateur fashion designers in the UAE have flocked to a fashion seminar to find out more about the brand new Swarovski Abaya Design Awards, presented by The Bride Show Abu Dhabi.

The evening event, held at the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club last week, welcomed aspiring fashion designers from all over the world, including an overwhelming number of UAE nationals, as well as entrants from the Philippines and India.

The Swarovski Abaya Design Awards was launched to provide fashionistas an opportunity to reveal their creativity and make an entrance into the fashion industry.  The awards are sponsored by Swarovski Middle East and endorsed by the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club and the Family Development Foundation.

“We were overwhelmed with the response from women in the UAE who wish to enter the design competition,” said Daphne Cota, Exhibitions Manager for The Bride Show.  “This is the inaugural year of the Swarovski Abaya Design Awards and we are all very excited to see what the entrants will create.”

Those who attended the seminar had the opportunity to speak to IIR Middle East, organizers of The Bride Show Abu Dhabi, as well as to Judith Duriez from Arabesque Sheilas and Abayas, and Bansri Gagwani, Senior Creative Service Centre Designer from Swarovski to discuss ideas for their own creations.  Participants received valuable tips from the speakers and were updated on the range of Swarovski products they could incorporate into their designs.
