winners of uae web awards 2007 announced

High quality of entries reflect growing standard of web designing in the country

The UAE Web Awards Committee, in association with Microsoft, Gowealthy.com and Business Software Alliance (BSA), the international association established by the software industry to promote a safe and legal digital world, recently hosted the third annual UAE Web Awards ceremony at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. The UAE Web Awards honoured individuals and companies from UAE’s web industry in 26 different categories.

“In association with Microsoft, BSA and Gowealthy.com, we are proud to announce the UAE Web Awards 07 winners, a competition that seeks to recognize creative web designing talent in the UAE,” said Pierre Moukarzel, President of the Web Awards Program in the Arab region.

Moukarzel said that the key objectives of the UAE Web Awards competition are to support innovation and showcase exceptional web designing creativity as well as to promote awareness of intellectual property issues. “We believe the Awards will help in raising standards of web designing in the Arab world,” he added.

“Microsoft is glad to support the UAE Web Awards, and initiatives like this will help immensely in developing regional IT talent,” said Vimal Sethi, DPE Lead, Microsoft Gulf. “We believe that talent determines the key difference between success and failure in the IT industry; identifying, developing, and recognizing talent is key to Microsoft's own success. Our involvement in the UAE Web Awards gives us another opportunity to express our commitment to these values.”

Jawad Al Redha, Co-Chairman - Middle East, Business Software Alliance, said that he saw great potential for the Awards in encouraging talent in the region. “I congratulate all the winners of the UAE Web Awards from the private and public sector organisations, and I invite them to participate in the Pan Arab Web Awards 2008, which will see participants from the Pan Arab region competing for the best website award. Moreover, apart from recognizing creative excellence, the Awards also seek to raise awareness about intellectual property rights across the region.”
